Japan is giving its beaches a new lease of life for private trips.
Tour operators say they’re eager to offer a fresh perspective on the islands and that it’s time to get back to a traditional culture that many locals have long held dear.
The islands of Miyagi and Kanagawa, popular for weekend cruises, will open their first private tours on Sunday.
The first of several new islands, Kanagawas first private tour will be for adults only.
A second tour, called Miyagawa Private Tour, will begin in October.
It will include a guided tour of the island and will take about two hours to complete.
The new tours, which include a guide and the chance to view the island’s scenic beauty, come as Japan grapples with the pandemic.
The islands have seen a spike in cases, with more than 4,000 cases reported in Kanagaws first week.
